Georgia Author Young Adult - Fiction
Welcome to Franklin
Hometown of two teenage brothers named Julio and Jeremy. A place where these two brothers will come to age while dealing with life issues that all teenagers face.
BLUE AND WHITE
This book is well written and would appeal to teens. It tells of racial issues and addresses them well. I enjoyed reading about the high school happenings and the exciting baseball games along with how the main character handles problematic circumstances.
The true to life experiences of love, life, dreams, and disappointment is so relatable you will swear that you know someone just like one of the various characters. Get both books so you can experience Julio and Jeremy's journey through life.
The Franklin Boys' Story: Blue and White is the first installment in the trilogy surrounding two brothers, Julio and Jeremy. This coming of age novel addresses issues that all teenagers face at some time or another -- relationships, racial tensions, untimely deaths, and (most importantly) the desire to be accepted.
Described by one of his students, "Mr. Mayer is a goofy 10th grade teacher that says 'giddy up.' but through his novels readers can catch a glimpse of a different Mr. Mayer, someone who has a story and wants to share it."
Dave Mayer was born in Illinois but now lives in the Atlanta, Georgia area. He has been a lifelong lover of baseball. The last twenty years he has been teaching and coaching which has heavily influenced his writing.
