More About Lori. . .

After twenty years practicing law, I decided to start doing what I always wanted to do, and what I always secretly did, which is write.  I started with a blog on the Patch, and achieved “Star Patcher” status.  That led to a humor blog and a legal column on Your Local News.  Then my own website, an award from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, a spot in the Erma Bombeck Writers Workshop, and a blog on the Huffington Post, among other things.  Oh yeah, I also wrote three books, “Mismatched Shoes and Upside Down Pizza,”  “The Armadillo, the Pickaxe, and the Laundry Basket,” and “You Know I Love You Because You’re Still Alive” which were Amazon #1 Bestsellers.  You Know I Love You Because You’re Still Alive won THREE national awards for humor books.

Lori Duff had two choices: she could have a career ending mid-life crisis or she could write a book. Lucky for you, she decided to write a book. Mismatched Shoes & Upside Down Pizza is filled with hilarious essays covering such diverse subjects as male-female relationships, parenting, grammar, travel, and the general disasters that occur to the good, the bad, and the clumsy, will give you the laughter you need to survive.

No animals were harmed in the making of this book, except maybe the armadillo, who was mostly just terrified. But that’s ok – so was I.

Lori does a very nice job of bringing us into her conflicts with life, family, work and underwear. Her style is always upbeat, constantly cheerful and often very insightful. Each chapter was an easy joy to read and I recommend this for a little light relief and a way of recognizing that one's challenges in motherhood and career are not unique.

About halfway through this book I realized that Lori Duff is saying a lot of smart and true and salient things WHILE she’s making me laugh out loud until my stomach hurts.

"Whether she’s inventing hysterical television game shows for couples, creating witty public service announcements, drafting the new Bill of Parents’ Rights, or imparting her famous chicken soup recipe in amusing narrative form, Lori Duff’s uproarious voice-of-reason will resonate long after you’ve read her cover-to-cover.”
