Mary Marvella knows her way around the heart when it comes to romance. Her talent in telling stories of romance ranges from sweet with the girl next door, intrigue and suspense, a little paranormal, and romances that will ignite and fan the flames of passion that leaves little to the imagination. Love comes in many ways for people and Mary uses her skills in creating characters, plot, and conflict to keep readers mesmerized.
"Telling stories or creating events has been something I've done since childhood." Mary shared how she would make-up stories to entertain her friends or create details for their "play like" or "let's pretend" games. She grew-up in Augusta, Georgia where her father was based at Fort Gordon. Her parent's story could be a inspiration for any hopeless romantic. Her father became enamored with a pretty southern girl selling flowers. That girl became Mary's mother.
Mary's love for the written word blossomed during her years living in Macon, Georgia. Her father moved the family to the Middle Georgia town to attend Mercer University. Her mother worked for the University's library, introducing a playground full of books for Mary to explore. This opportunity and experience fueled Mary's desire to pursue a degree in English.
Today Mary does more than just create stories of the heart, she shares her knowledge with other writers as a coach and editor. She was a presenter at the 2019 Southern Pen Bookshop's Writers Conference where she taught writers how to use conflict to keep a story's momentum. Mary will be signing copies of her books Saturday - July 20 at The Southern Pen Bookshop from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
