The Wit and Wisdom of UGA's Most Colorful Coach - Harry Mehre is a collaboration of Georgia Football History bound into one book.
Harry's first Alma Mater was Notre Dame. Stories still spin about the legendary Four Horsemen. But, Harry was the fifth and it was his job to make sure the ball was snapped and delivered to one of these infamous legends' hands. His second Alma Mater was a young college team in Athens, Georgia. His job...to help teach the Notre Dame offense that created the Four Horsemen.
The Wit and Wisdom of UGA's Most Color Coach is a compilation of Harry's own words about the game of football, the words of Georgia Legends who knew Harry Mehre as a person and collegue. Lewis Grizzard words inspire the preface. Loran Smith provides a history lesson of Mehre's contribution to the team we call the Georgia Bulldogs. Beau Bock concludes this tribute with his words about the late Coach Harry Mehre.
While the pages are filled with nostalgia and history they are adorned with the drawings of the late cartoonist, Jack Davis.
